Fairchild Semiconductor's 50th Anniversary
To mark the 50th anniversary of the founding of Fairchild Semiconductor, a series of events will be held on October 5 to 7, 2007 at the Computer History Museum and at Stanford University. On October 4, Fairchild Semiconductor founders Gordon Moore, Jay Last and Julius Blank, as well as venture capitalist Arthur Rock, discuss the founding of the company in a panel moderated by Leslie Berlin of the Silicon Valley Archives at Stanford University. On October 5, Floyd Kvamme moderates a panel of industry leaders including Gordon Moore, Jerry Sanders and Wilf Corrigan, who will explore the lasting impact of Fairchild Semiconductor on Silicon Valley and the world. Discussions will span Fairchild Semiconductor's beginnings until its sale in 1978. A reunion celebration gala on October 6 will also bring Fairchild Semiconductor alumni together to remember its accomplishments and share stories and memories.
Fairchild Semiconductor introduced the first commercially available integrated circuit, and went on to become one of the major players in the evolution of Silicon Valley in the 1960s. For more information, click here. |
